The climax of coal power construction drives the construction of coal power desulfurization and denitrification projects.

In the first quarter of 2022, the approved installed capacity of coal power was 8.63 million kilowatts, accounting for nearly half of the total in 2021. In September 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission held a meeting to ensure the supply of coal. It was proposed that 165 million kilowatts of new coal power would be started in 2022-2023, and 80 million kilowatts of coal power units would be guaranteed to be put into operation in 2024.
In order to cope with the growth of electricity demand of the whole society, ensure the demand for winter heating and support the consumption of renewable energy in large wind and solar power bases, it is estimated that during the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" period, China will add 230 to 280 million kilowatts of coal power units, and the installed capacity of coal power will exceed 1.3 billion kilowatts by the end of 2025.

As the largest industry of coal pollutant treatment, these new coal power plants will greatly drive the construction of supporting ultra-low emission projects, and the loss of coal power operation and maintenance is expected to improve.

From "reasonable control" to "reasonable construction" of coal power, it reflects that under the national conditions of China, clean and efficient utilization of coal is an important way to achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutralization.

In this context, coal power efficient and clean power generation, coal power flexible and intelligent power generation, coal power coupled CCUS, coal power and new energy complementary development have bred new development opportunities for the industry, while promoting the industrial transformation, it also poses new challenges to the traditional desulfurization and denitrification industry and existing environmental protection devices.
